What is a Doji candlestick and what does it tell us about buyer/seller equilibrium?

By Easy Money Scanner · Educational reference · Not investment advice

    The short answer

A Doji candlestick forms when a security's open and close prices are nearly equal, producing little to no body, which reflects indecision or equilibrium between buyers and sellers during that period.

    How it works

A Doji appearing after a strong trend can hint at a potential reversal or pause, but it requires confirmation from the following candle and volume before traders act on it as a signal.

    An example

A Doji forming at a resistance level after a sustained rally is often watched by traders as an early hint that buying pressure is fading.

    Risk & limitations

Treating every Doji as a reversal signal without confirmation can lead to premature exits during an otherwise intact trend.

Examples are hypothetical, not trade recommendations. US contract and regulatory references do not automatically apply in Canada. Rules, margin requirements and broker policies can change; confirm them with the relevant authority and your broker.
