Order flow

What is a Liquidity Vacuum and why does it cause futures prices to cascade instantly between major order book levels?

By Easy Money Scanner · Educational reference · Not investment advice

    The short answer

A liquidity vacuum occurs when resting orders are thin or absent at nearby price levels, causing futures prices to jump rapidly between distant levels on modest order flow.

    How it works

This typically happens after stop-loss cascades, during news releases, or outside regular trading hours when fewer market participants are quoting on the order book.

    An example

Price jumps 10 ticks instantly overnight.

    Risk & limitations

Vacuums amplify slippage and stop-loss execution risk sharply.
