What is Analysis Paralysis and how do I overcome the fear of pulling the trigger on valid setups?

By Easy Money Scanner · Educational reference · Not investment advice

    The short answer

Analysis paralysis occurs when excessive information gathering delays decisions; it is often reduced by limiting the number of indicators or data points used before acting on a setup.

    How it works

Traders commonly create a checklist of a fixed number of confirming criteria, and once met, execute the trade mechanically rather than seeking additional confirmation indefinitely.

    An example

A trader using three confirming indicators might commit to acting once all three align, rather than continuing to check additional charts or news sources.

    Risk & limitations

Simplifying decision criteria does not guarantee better outcomes and can increase impulsivity if applied without adequate risk controls; this is not personalized trading guidance.

Examples are hypothetical, not trade recommendations. US contract and regulatory references do not automatically apply in Canada. Rules, margin requirements and broker policies can change; confirm them with the relevant authority and your broker.
